“I Know God Will Give Me Strength!”
“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” - Philippians 4:13
Elijah is a great example of how God is with us during the ups and downs of life. After a great victory over the prophets of Baal, Elijah found himself weak and tired, overwhelmed by the news that Queen Jezebel was trying to kill him.
Ask: - Do you remember what amazing thing God did for Elijah on top of Mt. Carmel? - How must Elijah have felt? - Elijah was on the run, and people wanted to kill him. How must he have felt then?
Say: Elijah is a great example of God’s faithfulness. When he was weak and discouraged, Elijah actually said, “Take my life.” He felt like he couldn’t go on.
Ask: - Have you ever had a time like Eljiah when you felt very discouraged? When was it? Why did you feel that way? - Do you think God was there for you in that time? How do you know? - How did God respond to Elijah’s cry?
Say: God responded by sending an angel to give Elijah food and drink to give him strength to fight.
Ask: - How does God give us strength today? - What do you need God to help you with right now in your own life?
ACTIVITY: Spend some time praying with your children about the different things they are struggling with and the different areas they need God’s help in. Remind them they are not alone! You are with them, and most importantly God is on their side!
