Kids Sermon 8-9-20

“Who Is The Real God?”

Power Verse:
“I know the greatness of the Lord— that our Lord is greater than any
other god.” - Psalm 135:5

Family Devotion

We are learning a lot from the life of Elijah. This week’s lesson was about Elijah and the prophets of Baal. For your devotion this we will
spend time talking about how our God is “the REAL God!”

Ask:
- What does it mean when something is make believe or imaginary?
- Tell me something you can think of that is make-believe.
(Superman, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, etc)
- So, what does it mean if something is real?
(Help children see that real things are the opposite of make-believe)

Say: Did you know God is “the Real God?” There are actually people today who doubt that our God is real.

Ask:
- What are some ways we know God is real? - What are some ways we can prove to others or our friends that God is real?

Discuss some of the ways we know God is real with your children.
Examples - we can feel Him, He does miracles in our lives, etc.

Spend some time talking to your children about a time you really sensed or knew that God was real and active in your life.

Pray together that you will continue to see God being real and active in your’s and your families lives.

ACTIVITY:
If time permits, break a part as individuals and make a list of the things God has done in your lives and the ways you know He is real. If you have small children, let them illustrate this by drawing pictures. Give each family member an opportunity to share what God has done for them!
